Inconsistent writing and characterization with different writers who had no idea how to tackle him has shifted his personality too much.
SEE, he is too impulsive and insensitive towards the "immoral" action necessary to accomplish his goal, for being an ESI. i agree that he is manly motivated by his relation with batman. he is a solid Force+relation ego.his relation with batman (LSI) is a relation of supervision.
