Something I had been so amazed by throughout my time playing the game and that had been so simply pointed out by hearts at the end of our playthrough was how the characters--in all their silly and simple dialogue--felt so real. In a game whose entire premise surrounds the idea of teenagers facing themselves and growing up, it is so important that the characters feel there enough for its audience to resonate with the themes the game seems to convey. Persona does this splendidly... at least until the last month. hearts pointed out to me how darn bored I seemed to be getting and it's true: Persona 4 Golden's extra stretch at the end is distracting, irrelevant, and plays with the cast by taking bits of their gags and magnifying them until you couldn't see them as the same characters, something I was disappointed by but found incredibly amusing. But what that did illuminate was how much of a contrast there was between the "old" characters and the "new" characters. February turned the Persona cast into a quirkless Danganronpa characters playing in the snow, but I appreciate how much more it makes you realize how limitless and realistic the characters were before.
