strawberry crisis enfp 7 I like the 3w4 argument because it's not one I see very often, but I don't think it's quite right; as a matter of fact, I think he has a lot of 3-related traits that come from his extremely J personality (I see him closer to ISTJ than INTP in MBTI), but those traits don't translate into who he is essentially as a person from the perspective of the Enneagram. I think something very important to note is that Byakuya was born into his legacy and only sees it as justification for his being arrogant about his own abilities, hence why he detaches himself and works alone in order to figure out what's going on—while I do think he ultimately wants to win, he doesn't really go about this in a 3-ish manner and instead tests others' abilities and works from the shadows. Unlike Kyoko, Byakuya makes a show of his intelligence, but his own self-worth gets tied down to the matter of his ability to do so given his status and the resources he has (I see this as 5 at 8) instead of necessarily "seeking success." What gets me is that he's successful by birth and he doesn't really see any need to "adjust himself to succeed" as much he does to protect his legacy and accumulate the knowledge to do so (5 and 6). Byakuya isn't adaptable in the slightest, he isn't charming to anyone but Toko, and doesn't have a "cooperation" dependency (not sure how else I'd describe it) or any real sense of "people-orientedness" outside of the traits that only make him more confident that he is in fact the most capable among the people around him. I think you could flip the argument back to me and say that he couldn't be a 5 because he's already got it figured out in that department and directs his attention to a 3 side, but Byakuya continuously detaches himself to find his own answers and clues to things; he spent a long, long time locked away in a library reading up on anything that could help him figure out what he should do next. I feel like better examples of characters in Danganronpa that either are 3 or have a direct connection to 3 are Leon, Kaede or Nekomaru. Maybe even Gundham. Edit: and Celeste! How could I forget hahaha Also, if he's a 3… where is the 4 wing? He certainly doesn't have a 2 wing, but I don't actually see a 4 wing either. There's his isolated side, but what he does in isolation isn't at all related to what type 4 is about. 1 2018-07-23 03:56:01pm (post #2348) |
wpprsnppr intj 1w9 ili unit #031 in all fairness i don't understand how could byakuya be a 5w6. sure, he spends a lot of time researching and avoiding others like a stereotypical 5 but how does he line up with 5's basic motivations, desires or fears? no matter how i look at it byakuya is all about status and success, not only in his free-time events but also in the main plot and especially class trials. his goal is not to uncover the truth, but simply to win - compare him to kyoko and see how dramatically different their approaches to the trials are. that being said i think 5w6 is certaintly a part of his tritype, something like 3w4-8w7-5w6 probably. 1 2018-07-23 01:53:13pm (post #2343) |
